      General note

      Frank Pye was born in 1937 at Mount Moriah, Newfoundland, the son of Hayward and Frances Pye. He received a BA in Education from Memorial University in 1962 and graduated from Pine Hill Divinity Hall in 1965. He was ordained in the United Church of Canada in that same year. Pye served in churches throughout Labrador. At 50 years old, he and his wife Joyce Pye founded Grand River Farm as a retirement project, and worked tirelessly to provide fresh, local produce. In 2003, Pye unsuccessfully ran in the general election in the Cartwright district of NL representing the New Labrador Party. Then in 2005 he distanced himself from the party. He worked as Director of Extension Services, with the College of the North Atlantic and also served on the Federation of Agriculture for 10 years. He was a long standing Secretary of the Lake Melville Agricultural Association. Pye was also Treasurer of the Lake Melville Ministerial Association for 17 years.
